Opla takes no commission from the seller on a standard sale: you keep 100% of the displayed price, and the buyer alone pays a protection fee of 5% of the amount plus €0.70. This French second-hand marketplace is more general than Vinted: fashion, home and decoration, sport, culture and leisure, games and toys, handmade creations. It has also added a live video selling feature, which carries an 8% commission on the seller side, an exception to the free-of-charge principle that is worth understanding before getting started.
This guide details how Opla works, what you really keep in your pocket after a sale, the accepted categories, payment times, delivery, and what live selling changes.
What is Opla and why take an interest in it?
Opla is a French marketplace for sales between private individuals, created by Louis and Antoine, positioned on second-hand in the broad sense rather than on fashion alone. It highlights zero seller commission on standard sales, customer support provided by humans, and a catalogue that goes beyond clothing: home, sport, games and toys, culture and leisure, handmade creations.
For a reseller already established on Vinted or Leboncoin, the point is not to migrate, but to add a free channel that covers categories Vinted does not really handle, without losing a cent of commission on what sells.
How much does Opla really cost a seller?
On a standard sale, the seller pays nothing: no commission is taken, and the displayed price goes entirely to the seller. It is the buyer who pays an Opla protection fee, calculated at 5% of the order amount plus €0.70, at their expense and not the seller's (source: Opla help centre).
This principle changes only for live selling: there, an 8% commission on the product price applies to the seller, deducted when the funds are paid out. A professional account does not exempt you from this commission on live sales.
| Type of sale | Seller commission | Buyer fees |
|---|---|---|
| Standard sale | 0% | Opla protection: 5% + €0.70 |
| Live sale | 8% of the product price | Opla protection applies |
Which categories and products can you sell on Opla?
Opla accepts a wider catalogue than fashion alone: clothing, shoes, bags and accessories for women, men and children; home and decoration; sport; culture and leisure (books, music, films, video games and consoles, collectable cards, creative hobbies); games and toys; and handmade creations.
Two restrictions to know before publishing: Shein and Temu brands are banned across the whole marketplace, whatever the category, and selling on Opla is reserved for people aged 18 or over (source: Opla terms of use). Publishing a listing takes three steps: tap "Vendre" ("Sell"), add photos and a description, then wait for moderation approval before it goes live.
How and when do you get paid on Opla?
The money from a sale does not arrive directly in your bank account: it first feeds an Opla balance, credited when the buyer confirms receipt. This confirmation is automatic within 48 hours if the buyer does nothing, or within 15 days for a professional account.
From this balance, you transfer your funds to your bank account by SEPA transfer (IBAN and BIC), credited within 4 working days. On the buyer side, the accepted payment methods are bank card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and Revolut Pay (the last two limited to €300).
How does delivery work on Opla?
Two delivery methods exist, depending on what the seller offers: pickup point, through Mondial Relay in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, or through InPost in Spain and Portugal; and home delivery, only when the seller enables it. Chronopost is announced as being integrated, with no date set to this day.
Delivery costs vary according to the number of products in the basket and the method chosen, with Opla estimating the parcel's weight from the product category rather than from an actual weighing. A parcel must be able to fit into a pickup point locker to be shipped this way; some island territories (Canary Islands, Balearic Islands, Ceuta, Melilla, Azores, Madeira) are not served, while Corsica normally is.
What is live selling on Opla, and how much does it cost?
Opla has introduced a live selling feature: the seller presents their products on video to their followers, who buy during the broadcast rather than from a standard product page. It is a format close to what other marketplaces offer in live shopping, applied here to Opla's general second-hand marketplace.
The difference that matters for a seller is the commission: a sale concluded live is charged at 8% of the product price, deducted when the funds are paid out, against 0% for a standard sale. Before moving part of your stock to this format, you therefore need to build this commission into your margin calculation, which is not necessary for a standard listing.
Opla or Vinted: how do you split your stock?
The two marketplaces share the same principle of zero seller commission on a standard sale, but they do not cover the same catalogue. Vinted remains focused on fashion; Opla also accepts home and decoration, sport, games and toys, culture and leisure, and handmade creations.
In practice, nothing stops you from keeping Vinted for most of your wardrobe and adding Opla for what does not belong on a fashion marketplace: a complete board game, tableware, sports equipment, a handmade piece. This is the very principle of crosslisting: preparing a product page once and publishing it to the relevant channel depending on what the product really is, rather than choosing a single marketplace for all your stock.
Do you need a professional account to sell on Opla?
No, not for an occasional wardrobe clear-out: a standard account is enough as long as you sell your own belongings. Opla requires a professional account, with a SIRET number (French business registration number, 14 digits), as soon as the activity becomes regular: buying to resell, selling in volume, or any organised commercial activity. The Pro account is a paid subscription that adds better listing visibility and automatic invoice generation.
In all cases, private or professional, the DAC7 tax obligations apply above 30 sales or €2,000 in revenue over a year: Opla, like any marketplace, then passes your data on to the tax authorities.
Can you sell on Opla as well as on Vinted, Leboncoin and eBay with StoFlow?
Yes. Opla is one of the marketplaces managed by StoFlow, alongside Vinted, Leboncoin, eBay, Etsy and Vestiaire Collective, available from the Pro plan. You prepare your product page once, with a cut-out photo and a generated description, and it then goes to Opla as to your other connected marketplaces, without retyping.
A seller who already sells on Vinted and Leboncoin mainly gains, by adding Opla, an additional channel for the categories that their other marketplaces do not cover well, without starting from scratch on each product page. To compare plans and see from which plan each marketplace opens up, the full price list is on the pricing page.
In the end, Opla is not an alternative to Vinted or Leboncoin, it is a free complement for everything that goes beyond pure clothing, with one exception to remember if you test live selling: the 8% commission that applies there, to be built into your price before selling.
